Sardinas, 2025
Watercolor, 16 x 9 inches (40.64 x 22.86 cm)
While on a trip to Spain, one of my favorite dishes we tried was Sardinas. I was drawn to the contrast of the skeletons next to the perfectly displayed uneaten fish, so I snapped a picture mid-meal and painted this later the same day using watercolor. This painting has themes of impermanence, life/death, and questions our ideas around food and culture.
